Committed to community, tradition, and tzedakah.

Welcome to Havurah: The Addison County Jewish Congregation, located in Middlebury, Vermont.

As the only Jewish congregation in the rural 80-mile stretch between Rutland and South Burlington, Vermont, Havurah provides the diverse Jewish population in and around Addison County with opportunities for Jewish education, traditional and spiritual engagement, and organized tzedakah efforts. Because our community comprises a rich diversity of Jewish backgrounds and education, our volunteer-driven, lay-led congregation creates Jewish experiences that are both traditional and unique.

Havurah’s leadership structure relies on the full participation of members. Our current list of activities includes:

• Regular Shabbat evening and morning services

• High Holiday prayer services

• Weekly Hebrew School, beginning in 1st grade through Bar or Bat Mitzvah

• Adult learning opportunities such as monthly Jewish Learning Group; beginner “prayer book Hebrew” study; various Continuing Jewish Education events; and Jewish book discussion group

• Post-B’nei Mitzvah youth activities through the Burlington Young Judea chapter

• Festival & holiday observances including Sukkot, Chanukah & Purim celebrations, and an annual Community Passover Seder

• Social Action/Tikkun Olam & Tzedakah projects and fundraising

• Interfaith community activities

• Monthly newsletter

• Community email listserv (affectionately known as “oymail”)
